După ce am citit Blog Blazers (carte scoasă în 2008, dar extrem de actuală -o recomand!), am simțit nevoia să fac mai multe pentru blogul meu. A fost un wake-up call care m-a făcut să vreau să scriu mai bine, mai des, mai organizat și mai consistent.

Urmarea a fost că mi-am schimbat tema, mi-am făcut o grilă de subiecte pe care vreau să le abordez și am purces la treabă. De 2 săptămâni am reușit să scriu 5 articole săptămânal și, deși poate nu pare mult, mie mi se pare că e un pas în direcția corectă.

Să învățăm de la cei mari

În blogging, ca în multe alte domenii, se întâmplă să avem norocul să putem învăța de la cei mari. Dacă ograda online-ului românesc vi se pare prea mică (deși nu e, însă bloguri noi sunt greu de găsit, dar asta e altă poveste), încercați cu sfaturile celor din afară.

Un astfel de blogger nu doar cu renume, ci și cu influență, este Pat Flynn. Am citit despre el în cartea amintită mai sus și poate vă e greu să credeți, dar povestea lui sună cam așa:
– blogul era o a doua sursă de bani, pe lângă job
– Pat urma să se căsătorească și a fost dat afară de la job, pierzându-și stabilitatea financiară
– cu multe sfaturi și enorm de multă muncă, în mai puțin de un an, a început propriul business, a fost cofondator la un altul și ajunsese să câștige peste 200.000$ online.

O lecție de modestie

Mare mi-a fost bucuria să citesc, într-unul dintre newsletter-ele trimise de Pat (care sunt tare utile și deloc enervante) o promisiune personală de respectare a cititorilor unui blog. Asta în condițiile în care acest blogger face sute de mii de dolari din business-urile sale, independente de blogul personal sau de traficul pe care îl are.

Sadly, I’ve noticed on a lot of blogs that I’ve been following for quite a long time, things start to change once the blog gets really popular. I won’t mention the names of these blogs, but some of them are ones that I’ve been following ever since the beginning, and unfortunately have grown to not like so much anymore.

When these blogs go big, the authors always seem to spend less and less time on them, and I kind of have a feeling that the blog is not the most important thing to them anymore, even through it’s exactly what helped them get “famous” or find stardom in the first place.

I just wanted to send you this quick message to let you know that as I grow (and I seem to be growing at a rather alarming rate as of late), I will always put you and my blog first. I don’t want to go down the same path of making every blog post or newsletter be about some product that you have to pay in order to use. I don’t want to fill my blog with newly staffed authors and never write posts on my own anymore.I’ll do my best to always be here for you just like I have since the beginning.

Lastly, I want you to hold me accountable for that. If at any time you feel I’m going down the wrong path with my blog, I want you to let me know so I can correct myself. I may not even know I’m doing it, which is why I’m asking you to watch out for me.
