Anul trecut, în timp ce eu eram preocupată să fac live blogging de la How To Web 2011, Bobby Voicu primea o invitație care avea să-i schimbe cariera (și pe a mea odată cu a lui – însă despre acest lucru, într-un alt articol).

În luna noiembrie 2011 a început povestea MavenHut, un proiect care nu avea încă nume sau identitate la acel moment, ci doar un pas important către concepere. Și totul a pornit de una dintre cele mai mari și mai interesante conferințe despre antreprenoriatul online din Europa de Est.

Pentru a completa povestea lui Bobby de pe blogul How To Web, i-am pus câteva întrebări lui Cristi Badea, unul dintre cofondatorii MavenHut, pentru a vedea cum s-a văzut din perspectiva lui crearea și evoluția rapidă a acestui start-up. Am preferat să las întrebările și răspunsurile în limba engleză, ca mai mulți oameni să se poată bucura de ele.

1. What role did How To Web play in the creation and evolution of MavenHut?

Two years ago at HTW 2010 it was the first time we went public with our previous company Farender, where we used to do games-for-hire. It was our first contact with potential investors and clients. We met Bobby, who became a client of ours later that year. During How To Web 2011 Bobby met Eoghan from StartupBootcamp and that was the starting point for MavenHut.

2. What can we learn from how Startup Bootcamp Dublin works?

It’s a straight forward process actually, mostly similar to other accelerators out there. It’s important how you as an entrepreneur process the available resources in order to have a compelling story for demo day. For example we faced the challenge of being “yet another gaming company” and our solution was to focus on the end result and show growth when the program finished. So we started developing a new game from scratch (we pivoted from day 1) and ended up with 17.000 users playing our game in just 3 months.

3. What role do you think participating at How To Web can play for Romanian entrepreneurs?

Again, it’s only up to them. HTW is one of the top networking events in the CEE and they should make the best out of it. Also it’s important to realize that it’s not only about meeting investors and learning more about accelerators. It’s very likely that you can meet your next big client, business partner or mentor.

4. What is the single most important piece of advice you would give to anyone who wants to go to How To Web this year?

Hustle! Meet new people and ask smart questions.

Eu cred foarte mult că sfatul lui Cristi este unul important: dacă vrei să explorezi toate posibilitățile participării la un eveniment, să te informezi de dinainte cu privire la speakerii prezenți acolo, pentru a putea să le pui întrebările potrivite și pentru a acumula cât mai bine informațiile de acolo.

Pentru cei dintre voi care nu știu, MavenHut a creat Solitaire Arena, primul joc de Solitaire pe care îl poți juca împotriva unui adversar. Îl puteți juca direct din aplicația de Facebook, însă trebuie să avertizez că poate da dependență. 🙂

Pentru a vedea ce urmează să se întâmple anul acesta la How To Web, veți găsi un infrografic foarte simpatic despre acest lucru. De asemenea, nu uitați că early bird tickets sunt valabile până la sfârșitul lui octombrie.
